Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today paid an unforeseen visit to the border crossing point Leuseni-Albita (border with Romania), in order to verify the way citizens cross the border in the full swing of the summer, when the flow of travelers increases.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the PM discussed with people and asked them about the waiting time, as well as about the attitude of the employees of the Customs Service and Border Police.
„I have earlier asked colleagues to leave offices and go and talk directly to people on the spot, ask them about the treatment they enjoy when interacting with the state. Verifications must be quick and should not bother the passengers,” Pavel Filip said.
In the context, the prime minister discussed with the representatives of competent authorities the procedures of checking passengers from buses and asked drivers and passengers if they are subjected to excessive controls. “We had another agreement: that you collect the passports here. An employee comes, collects the passports, when he takes the document, he sees who the man is, you take the acts, process them and you do not need to always verify the luggage, just when there is something suspicious,” the prime minister told the competent persons of the customs. The same subject was discussed at a last year visit to the same customs checkpoint by the prime minister.
Pavel Filip gave instructions that the procedures should be simplified and the employees of the Border Police and Customs Service should have a respectful attitude in communicating with the citizens. The PM also showed interest in the working conditions of the two institutions’ employees.
