Over 60 libraries of Moldova organize workshops of programming for children, teenagers

Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - Over 60 public libraries and libraries for children from Moldova organize workshops of programming for children and teenagers, within an innovating programme, CodeLab – Learn Coding at Library.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the director of the Ion Creanga National Library for Children, manager of the programme at the national level Lilia Tcaci said that this was a project the goal of which is to develop children’s digital competences through activities of initiating in programming. The project was launched in October 2017 with the support of the Novateca programme.
According to Tcaci, initially, 12 libraries for children from Moldova participated in the project. Programming workshops are organized within this programme, during which children take knowledge of the basic concepts of programming and learn to create their own games and applications, with the help of short films, adapted to various ages – from pres-school children to teenagers.
”The project enjoys popularity among children and is appreciated by parents and teachers, as they encourage children to use technologies not only for games, but also to learn something new. Also, these activities develop not only their digital competences, but also the logical and creative thinking, orientation in space, working skills in team. The project has grown and the concerned programme is implemented in another 60 libraries for children and adults of Moldova,” Lilia Tcaci added.
Starting from last October till present, about 5,000 participants have been trained within CodeLab – Learn Coding at Library project.
