Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Bucharest Metropolitan Library has organised a training programme for 40 librarians from Municipal Library B. P. Hasdeu in Chisinau on 22 – 29 July.
The visit of the Moldovan delegation has taken place within framework of project "100 de ani de la Unirea Basarabiei cu România" (100 years from the Union of Bessarabia with Romania), carried out by the Bucharest library in the Year of the Centenary of the Great Union.
The guests benefited from professional sessions and practical workshops supported by librarians from the Bucharest Metropolitan Library (BMB) and representatives of BMB partners. Also, the delegation from Moldova visited several branches of Metropolitan Library, as well as various institutions in the capital of Romania. These ones are: Bucharest City Hall, Romanian Parliament, Bucharest Municipal Sports Club, National Romanian Literature Museum, Romanian Peasant National Museum, Dimitrie Gusti National Museum of Village and Bucharest Museum.
The President of the Association of Librarians from Moldova, Mariana Harjevschi, General Director of Municipal Library B. P. Hasdeu noted that during these days, librarians from Chisinau got acquainted with the network of public libraries, range of services that promote reading and life – long learning at the Bucharest Metropolitan Library.
"Surely, we librarians from Chisinau are grateful for this gesture. The Centenary of the Union is a historical moment, and we must manifest this respect that we have for preceding generations, but also invest in our future. And this collaboration is similarly an example which supports us in this endeavour. We want the librarians in Bucharest, the Metropolitan Library network, to reach Chisinau, so we can get closer to our cooperation relations," specified Mariana Harjevschi.
In this context, Ioana Crihana, executive director of the National Association of Librarians and Public Libraries in Romania, said that this training programme was an opportunity for exchange of experience. "The relationships between our associations have been very close for many decades. This project is an opportunity to identify new modes for collaboration between our associations. We always find ourselves with ideas, initiatives, which we want to develop further," said Ioana Crihana.
The given project aims at creating a meeting place and professional interaction between librarians to stimulate the exchange of information, sharing experiences and good practices, and validating innovative solutions and innovative projects for community, implemented by libraries, at local, national and international levels.
