Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/- Seven employees of the medical system in the country were detained for corruption. It is about a group of physicians, assistants and representatives of private clinics who would set going a scheme of extorting money from insured patients to make imaging and computed tomography investigations.
According to the National Anticorruption Center, the head of the imaging and computed tomography section of the Republican Medical Diagnostic Center would have organized a network of doctors from state medical institutions and private clinics to provide paid services to patients. Under the agreement, doctors sent patients for tomographic investigations without proper appointments. Thus, patients would have paid the money directly to the head of the Department of Imaging and Computed Tomography, without the amounts being reflected in the hospital's records, and the doctors who "supplied patients" were paid for each person with some of the money.
About 100 cases have been documented in which at least 13 doctors and other medical staff at the Republican Center for Medical Diagnostics, the Institute of Phthisiopneumology, the Cardiology Dispensary, and some private clinics have been involved.
Detained people are searched for abuse of service and passive corruption.
The operation is currently going on.
