Moldovan theatre performance selected for National Theatre Festival in Bucharest

Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ – Performance "Krum" by Hanoch Levin, staged by Luminita Tacu at National Theatre Mihai Eminescu in Chisinau, was selected for the 28th issue of the National Theatre Festival in Bucharest, which will take place on 19 – 29 October. 

Interviewed by agency, general manager of Mihai Eminescu National Theatre, Petru Hadarca, mentioned that it is an honour for institution to participate in that prestigious festival with performance. "After setting up the hilarious "Children of Hunger" by Alexei Vakulovski, Luminita Tacu comes with a new directorial experience – an absolutely spectacular show that completes quite well the repertoire of theatre. It is a dynamic show with lots of music, rhythm, dance and replies, which I hope will be very successful. The show will be played in Bucharest on 22 October," said Petru Hadarca.

In the context, Luminita Tacu stated that the show has an extraordinary drama, which the theatre needed long ago. "It is a text about people with their problems, including about us. It is a kind of theatre that combines body expression with text," said Luminita Tacu.

According to the main role actor, Alexandru Plesca (Krum), the show is about a 38 – year – old which went abroad, then returned home, desperately trying to live, dreaming even to write a novel, but did not succeed. "It is a show about young people and for young people. I hope that many of them will find themselves in this show," said Alexandru Plesca.

The cast includes Angela Ciobanu, Ghenadie Galca, Ion Mocanu, Valentin Zorila, Diana Decuseara, Iurie Focsa, Doriana Zubcu – Marginean, Mihaela Strambeanu, Dan Melnic and Tinca Mardare.

Hanoch Levin, one of most prominent playwrights of Israel, was born in Tel Aviv in 1943. He studied philosophy and literature at the University of Tel Aviv. He debuted in poetry, but continued in dramaturgy. He became a playwright resident of Cameri Theatre in Tel Aviv, also collaborating with Habimah, National Theatre of Israel. Levin wrote fifty pieces, of which there were staged thirty – four ones. His work includes comedies, tragedies and satirical pieces. He has won numerous theatre awards both in Israel and abroad – especially at the Edinburgh Festival – his plays being set up all over the world. "Krum" is one of the most exciting and popular parts of the playwright first staged by the author in 1975.
