Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ – The US company S2 Global, specialising in provision of technologies for inspection of vehicles and luggage, wants to expand its operations in Moldova. The intention was announced today at a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
US contractors have also reported that they also have IT solutions that allow detection of prohibited goods such as arms and drugs at borders, as well as countering smuggling of cigarettes.
At his turn, PM Pavel Filip mentioned that the Government has focused on implementation of new technologies, as to make it possible for state institutions to become more efficient, reduce corruption, but also increase revenues to budget. "The corruption can only be eradicated by technology and limiting direct intervention of persons. Many people are tempted to organise their work in such a way that there are possibilities for extortion of bribes. The idea is simple: more problems they create for people crossing the border, greater are chances to collect bribes," said Pavel Filip, also in context of last week checks at Leuseni – Albita Customs.
With about 60 per cent of activity of S2 Global focused on software development, company representatives have shown interest in the benefits of "Moldova IT Park". Pavel Filip mentioned that IT Park, launched on 01 January 2018, already has more than 240 residents. "The main advantage is single tax of 07 per cent. There is an abstraction of bureaucracy, corruption and other barriers, there is no interaction with state institutions, there are transparent and clear rules," added PM.
The PM asked the company, together with national authorities with competences in the field, to develop a mechanism for implementation in Moldova of solutions to increase security at border.
