Chisinau suburb locality hosts sculpture exhibition

Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ – A sculpture exhibition was opened today in the central park in village Cojusna, Straseni district, within the first sculpture camp "Dialoguri cojusnene" (The dialogues of Cojusna).

The exhibition includes six sculptural compositions of Iurie Platon, Valentin Vartosu, Alexei Vidrasco, Mihai Lazar, Radu Granaci and Mihai Damian. The camp was organised by art teachers from the Art Centre of Cojusna, Teodora and Vasile Hubenco.

Interviewed by agency, Teodora Hubenco mentioned that the idea to run this camp was taken from Ungheni, where the plastic artists made several issues. "Last year, some trees were cut off the village's road to fire, but we decided to give them a new life. And then it came to us to organise a sculpture camp. Thus, there were made six modern sculptures, distinct in form, concept and content. They are placed in the shape of a circle, as if they are in dialogue with each other, but also with the visitors. We hope this park will become a meeting place for lovers, where new families, as well as other visitors, could be founded. Also, we believe that the camp "Dialoguri cojusnene 2018" (The dialogues of Cojusna 2018) will have continuity, if not every year, then at least once every two years, and it could become an international camp, to which sculptors from other countries will be invited" specified Teodora Hubenco.

In this context, Professor Vasile Hubenco said that village people did not have time to go to exhibitions in museums and then decided with his wife to create an art gallery under the open sky.

At his turn, sculptor Valentin Vârtosu said that his actual work is part of a new series "Familia". "One of these sculptural compositions I made at Ungheni – Misterioasele ierarhii ale existenței (The mysterious hierarchies of existence)". In these two main works are the members of my family – two children, the elders. It is a family dialogue. We transferred this idea to Cojusna, the sculptural composition being also a dialogue with the inhabitants of respective community," said Valentin Vartosu.

Attending the event, the mayor of Cojusna village, Sergiu Jereghi, thanked the six plastic artists for execution of te sculptural compositions, wishing them to beautify with their works other localities too. "I also hope that you will continue to do such extraordinary works at us, because man needs not only water, bread and salt, but also cure for soul," said Mayor Sergiu Jereghi.
