Dozens of hectares of farmland destroyed due to heavy rains

Chisinau, 1 August /MOLDPRES/- Several local roads in the north of the country and tens of hectares of farmland were destroyed due to heavy rains yesterday.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, in Cobani village, Glodeni district, the rain damaged about 9.2 km of local road.

At the same time, heavy rains destroyed several hectares of crops in several regions: Ocnita, Valcinet - 14 ha of orchards, Calaras, Horodişte - 27 ha of orchards and 18 ha of vineyards.

Also, following the heavy rainfall in Vadul Isac village, Cahul district, the rescuers were asked to carry out water pumping works from a private household, and then a dam was built to protect this household from the accumulated waters.

The territorial emergency commissions will assess the damage recorded.

According to the data of the State Hydrometeorological Service, rainfall is expected for today in the north and south of the country. No precipitation is forecast for the following days.
