Chisinau, 1 August /MOLDPRES/- The initiative to set the European model for the development of the country in the Constitution, the improvement of electoral procedures, the parliamentary control over the implementation of the passed laws, the approval of the budget for 2019 are some of the priorities for the last legislative session of the current Parliament. Parliament Speaker Adrian Candu made the statement today, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The speaker said that the talks for amending the Constitution will be held with the pro-European opposition, expressing the hope that the project will be supported as being extremely important for the future of the country. Also, he insisted on the need to adopt the public budget until the expiry of the mandate of the current Parliament. "Beyond political disputes and electoral campaigns, the country needs to grow, people have to be safe on tomorrow, receive salaries and pensions on time" he said.
Referring to the spring session, the Speaker spoke about parliamentary control, recalling the platform for implementing the reintegration policy of the Republic of Moldova and the adopted projects that come to bring people from the left bank of the Dniester. Referring to Gagauzia, Candu mentioned that thanks to the working group to ensure the functionality of the autonomous territorial unit Gagauzia and the legislative provisions of the Republic of Moldova in relation to the special status of Gagauzia, within the framework of constitutional norms, over 400 amendments have been considered.
At the same time, he said that the Concept of the National Media Development Policy, the Audiovisual Media Services Code, the Law on Foreign Investment in the Production of Film and Other Audiovisual Works, the Draft Law on Advertising are the result of work in the working group on improving the media law of Moldova.
Among the most important reforms and social projects, the speaker listed the implementation of the First House program, the building of Arena Chişinău, the implementation of meal vouchers, the reform of primary health care, the recalculation of pensions, the increase of allowances for several categories of people, the reduction of notary fees, etc.
Another important package approved by Parliament is economic activity, including non-bank lending, guaranteeing deposits of individuals, tax reform, tax incentives and voluntary declaration of goods.
A priority for the Legislature, according to Andrian Candu, was the security, including energy, defense of the country. He spoke about the ratification of the Loan Agreements for the interconnection of the electricity networks between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, the approval of the legislation necessary for the execution of the interconnection works for electricity and the Iasi-Unghei-Chisinau gas pipeline, as well as the approval of the National Defense Strategy 2018-2021.
The resolution of the US Congress in support of the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine, the establishment of the Parliamentary Assemblage of the three countries and the first interparliamentary security conference held in Chisinau were also actions to strengthen regional security and to strengthen the country's position on the international arena.

Another achievement of the spring session was the approval of the Civil Society Development Strategy for the period 2018-2020 and the Action Plan for its implementation. This has strengthened the civil society participation framework in developing and monitoring the implementation of public policies.
In his speech, the speaker also referred to organizing information campaigns for children, encouraging women's involvement in decision-making, informing and consulting economic agents about reforms implemented to improve the business environment and DCFTA, informing young people about existing opportunities and encouraging them to launch their own businesses.
In the spring session, 197 legislative documents were adopted, of which 153 laws and 44 decisions. 288 draft laws were recorded in parliament, the authors of which were the government – 99, PDM -68, Group of MPs-32, PSRM – 30, PCRM-17, Presidency – 16, PPE-10, PL-7, non-affiliated – 6, PLDM- 3.
MPs addressed 94 questions and interpellations, and 29 state activity reports were heard.
During the spring session, 4,500 visitors hosted the Parliament in 172 visits, of which about 10% were citizens of other states. 88 diplomas were awarded for outstanding merits and remarkable results in various fields of activity.
