More medical employees receive warrants for arrest within healthcare corruption schemes of Moldova

Chisinau, 01 August /MOLDPRES/ – Several medical employees have received arrest warrants in the Corruption Diagram of the Republican Centre for Medical Diagnosis. The decisions were taken today by the magistrates of the Buiucani Court.
According to decisions, four persons received 30 days of preventive arrest, and another person was placed for 25 days in detention centre of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA).
Also, another accused was placed in home arrest for 30 days.
One of suspects was also released after making statements to criminal prosecution body. Currently, the suspect is investigated in a state of freedom.
The detainees are physicians, assistants and representatives of private clinics which would put on a scheme of cashing money from insured patients to conduct imaging and computed tomography investigations.
In total, 14 persons are investigated in the case for abuse of service and passive corruption. If they are found guilty, the suspects risk up to 10 years in prison and a fine of MDL 400 thousand.
