Fundamental principles of holding elections cannot be changed one year before date of election - Moldovan speaker says

Chisinau, 1 August /MOLDPRES/- The electoral system, the number of tours are fundamental principles for the organization and conduct of the elections and cannot be changed one year before the election date, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu said today, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

According to the official, in countries where there are uninominal constituencies, such as the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, only one tour is organized, this being a common international practice.

At the same time, Candu said that we have half a year before the election, and we cannot make such changes, but we can only come up with some interpretations regarding electoral agitation on election day, regulations for social networks, other shortcomings that will be highlighted as a result of the analysis of the commission on rules and immunities, which will present in the autumn the expertise of the legislation, following the invalidation of the local elections in the capital.
