Conductor Serghei Ciuhrii celebrates 80th anniversary

Chisinau, 2 August /MOLDPRES/- Conductor, composer and teacher Serghei Ciuhrii, People’s Artist, is today 80 years.

He was born in 1938 in the village of Moara de Piatra, Balti County, now Drochia district. He studied at the School of Music "Stefan Neaga" (1958-1963) with Ana Moldovean and Tamara Mitu and at the Gavriil Musicescu Institute of Art (1979-1984) in Chisinau with Anatoli D. Stolearov.

He is currently working as a lecturer at the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts. He is a member of the Union of Musicians of Moldova. Serghei Ciuhrii wrote hundreds of songs, arrangements for the folk music orchestra, for instrumentalists and singers. The records of his songs are part of the golden fund of Radio and Television.

In 1979, Serghei Ciuhrii was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Moldova," in 1992 - People’s Artist and in 1998 – Labor Glory Order.
