Moldovan PM launches free medical examinations campaign in localities

Chisinau, 02 August /MOLDPRES/ – The rural residents will benefit from free medical services within campaign "Un doctor pentru tine" (A doctor for you), launched today at the initiative of Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Dozens of physicians will travel throughout localities in Moldova and provide free medical assistance to citizens. According to PM, this campaign responds to demands of rural population to improve their medical services. "We know that in over 280 localities there are no family doctors. We know which causes are and I want to assure you that the Government knows what needs to be done to solve this issue. We want to develop the economy and the country so we can have decent services and salaries," said Pavel Filip.

The medical services offered within campaign "Doctor for You" will be focused on three directions:

1. Free medical consultations provided by profile physicians. The mixed groups of specialists, including endocrinologists, ophthalmologists, neurologists and cardiologists, will travel throughout localities and consult population.

2. Free dental examinations for children. Teams of dental practitioners will provide advice and assistance to children from villages. Firstly, there will be selected localities where there are no dental offices.

3. Free radiological examinations. Even today, two motorcycle-equipped vehicles will go through localities and identify cases of tuberculosis or lung cancer. Shortly, radiological teams will be supplemented to perform mammography examinations.

The PM said that health is a priority for Government and that investment for development would continue. "You have all my appreciation for your work. I know a lot of doctors which work honestly and do their job honourably. We will do our best for the medical sector, economy, but to develop the country," Prime Minister Pavel Filip told the doctors at the event.
