Anticorruption officers found money in case on doctors from Mother and Child Institute

Chisinau, 3 August /MOLDPRES/- About 1.5 million lei were picked up yesterday by anti-corruption officers and prosecutors following the searches conducted in the Tomograf 2 file. The money was found both in the offices of some physicians at the Radiology and Imaging Department of the Mother and Child Institute and in the metal safe deposited in a commercial bank in the capital on behalf of the head of the department.
According to the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA), 761,600 lei, 24,300 euros, 1,000 dollars and gold items were found in the bank box. Prosecutors will ask the investigating magistrate for seizure to establish their origin.
At the same time, at the request of the CNA and the anticorruption prosecutors, several seizures were applied to the "Tomograf 1" case, which includes doctors from the Republican Medical Diagnostic Center. In this case, about 7 million lei were seized, in different currencies, a property and two cars.
In both cases, doctors from CRDM and the Mother and Child Institute are being prosecuted for passive corruption and abuse of service.
If found guilty, they risk up to 10 years in prison, deprivation of the right to hold public office for up to 10 years and a fine amounting to 400 thousand lei.
