Chisinau, 06 August /MOLDPRES/ – One euro (€) will cost MDL 19,04 on 07 August, MDL 0,09 less than today, according to the official exchange rates, which are today issued by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM). Thus, within one week, the European single currency has lowered by MDL 0,39 out of its value.
Interviewed by agency, economic expert Roman Chirca said that the European single currency has depreciate against Moldovan leu (MDL) in context of its devaluation against the US dollar ($) on international markets.
"There is expected an international crisis, especially within eurozone due to large debts. And the US economy has a very good growth. Respectively, due to the difference between US and European economy, USD is forging. In this case, BNM has two options: either to appreciate USD or bring euro to its value against dollar," specified Roman Chirca.
According to expert, the trend of depreciation of the euro will be maintained, due to the fact that the US economy will continue to grow, and as a result the dollar will appreciate.
For tomorrow, BNM has set a US dollar exchange rate of MDL 16,50, with MDL 0,02 less than today.
The national currency will also appreciate against Romanian leu (RON) and the Russian rouble (RUR). The last one will cheapen and cost MDL 0,25. RON will decrease MDL 0,03. It will have an official price of MDL 04,11.
Instead, the Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH) will maintain its value of MDL 0,60.
