Chisinau, 9 August /MOLDPRES/- Regulation on tire labeling will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 10 August. It sees that suppliers and distributors of tires will be obliged to market them only with energy label identical to that used in EU countries.
The document also sets out the responsibilities of tire retailers, the test methods and the parameters after which the tires will be classified.
The regulation will enter into force six months after its publication in the Official Journal.
Its provisions will not be applied to existing tire stocks for a period of 12 months from the date of publication of the document.
According to experts, the passage of cars registered in the Republic of Moldova from lower class tires (D, E, F, G) to some more efficient classes (A, B, C), with a 10,000 km distance per year would generate fuel savings of about 5.4 thousand tons per year or over 86 million lei annually. Moreover, the fuel savings would reduce the volume of C02 emissions by over 13,500 tonnes.
