Moldovan PM urges urgent measures to avoid spread of measles outbreak

Chisinau, 09 August /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip has urged the Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS) to take urgent measures to liquidate the confirmed measles outbreak on territory of Moldova and avoid the disease spread, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The measles outbreak was recorded in a summer camp organised in locality Morenii Noi, Ungheni district by a religious confession. Totally, there were involved 20 children: 8 from locality Besghioz, 4 from villages Copciac and Cazaclia in Ciadar – Lunga district, 1 case was recorded in Vulcanesti district and 3 ones in Ungheni district.
According to the MSMPS's information and media communication service, out of those 20 infected children, only 3 had received a dose of measles vaccine, which is insufficient.
The Premier demanded provision of specialised medical assistance to infected children, as well as notification of law enforcement bodies as to initiate extensive investigations to establish all outbreak circumstances, but also of those ones which are guilty of it.
