Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/ – The authorities will carry out checks in all summer camps of Moldova in upcoming period. The decision was announced today after a meeting of the Governmental Commission for the organisation and monitoring of summer rest for children and adolescents, held in the context of the incident in summer camp Trandafirul in Vadul lui Voda.

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), Angela Cutasevici, said after the meeting that joint committees would be set up the following week to examine the conditions of rest in each camp. Also, the children will be questioned to determine if they are satisfied with the conditions in the institutions where they are resting.

"It is necessary to document each authority according to its competencies, to carry out further inquiries, and by 14 August to submit info notes to MECC. In upcoming period, we will convene working meetings on improving the normative acts governing organisation of children's rest, as there are many gaps in legislation," said the official from MECC.

State Secretary, Angela Cutasevici, visited the Trandafirul camp in the afternoon of 09 August and inspected the rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, shower cabins. These ones "proved to be insalubrious and deplorable." For these reasons, the Ministry considers that the work of institution should have ceased before the incident occurred on the night of 07 to 08 August, when more children in the camp were physically assaulted.

This summer, there are almost 80 active summer camps in Moldova.
