Yellow code of heat announced in most area of Moldova

Chisinau, 13 August /MOLDPRES/ – The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has announced today the Yellow Code of heat, which will be valid on 14 – 16 August, within central and southern regions of Moldova.
According to meteorologists, on 14 – 16 August, predominantly within central and southern districts, maximum air temperature will reach 33 – 34°C, during the day. And during the night, thermometers will indicate up to 21°C.
To the north, the thermal values will register a few degrees less, but also to the hottest limits. At the same time, there are also possible rainfalls with discharges in the northeast during this week.
According to the SHS’s information and media communication service, in August the number of days with maximum air temperature of 30°C and above is on average from three days (Briceni) to ten days (Tiraspol), the maximum observed being 26 days ( Leova, Cahul, 1992). The number of August days with a maximum air temperature of 35°C and above does not exceed one day on average, but in some years there were also 14 days (Tiraspol, 2010).
At their turn, doctors warn persons with chronic diseases, especially respiratory and cardiovascular, pregnant women, elderly people and children to avoid going outdoors in hot time of the day. It is also not recommended to drink alcoholic beverages, excess coffee, greasy and consistent food, giving preference for fruits, vegetables, teas and light, vegetal dishes, as well as light colours, desirable from natural canvas.
