Moldova interested in increasing own exports to Indian market, attracting technologies instead

Chisinau, 13 August /MOLDPRES/ – The intensification of trade and economic relations, presenting investment climate of Moldova, ways of strengthening cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Moldova and India, as well as identifying new spheres of cooperation of mutual interest in the spirit of the Agreement between Government of Moldova and Government of India of Trade and Economic Cooperation were discussed by the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister, Tudor Ulianovschi, with the President of CCI in India, Anil Khaitan.
According to the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service, during a meeting with the President of the Indian CCI, Anil Khaitan and Indian businessmen, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi reconfirmed the interest of the Government in Chisinau in deepening the commercial relations – bilateral economic in agriculture and wine industry, IT technologies, pharmaceuticals and medicine, textiles and manufacturing, etc.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi specified that, "Moldova advocates identifying the opportunities for boosting trade between the two countries, in particular increasing export of Moldovan goods to Indian market, all the more so that the bilateral legal basis favours this. We are also interested in attracting Indian investors to our country, especially in the textile industry, but also in other areas where Moldova and India may have mutually beneficial cooperation."
As a result of discussions, it was presented investment offer of Moldova, which includes macroeconomic indicators, fiscal facilities of residents of free economic zones, successful histories of foreign investors, etc. "A sphere with a high potential for cooperation is IT field, we encourage participation of Indian companies in activity of Free Economic Zones (ZEL), Moldovan Industrial Parks and IT parks offering attractive terms for foreign investors", said the head of Moldovan diplomacy.
The interlocutors expressed confidence that signing in May 2018 the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two chambers of commerce, the visit of President PHD CCI of India, Anil Khaitan, scheduled for October 2018, as well as organisation in perspectives of the a Moldovan – Indian economic forum, will essentially contribute to intensification of the trade – economic relations between Moldova and India, similar as the increase of economic balance.
At the meeting of PHD CCI of India, Minister Ulianovschi was accompanied by Moldovan Ambassador to India, Gheorghe Leuca, and the Honorary Consul, Purshottam Bagheria.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, pays a working visit in India on 10 – 15 August, the first visit to India of a head of Moldovan diplomacy since the independence of Moldova.
