More persons hospitalised after sunstroke in Moldova

Chisinau, 13 August /MOLDPRES/ – Three persons called on doctors after they sunstroke because of high temperatures. The cases were registered during the recent week in Chisinau and Balti municipalities.
The spokesman of the National Prehospital Emergency Medical Assistance Centre (CNAMUP), Diana Blanaru, mentioned for agency that there were registered two cases in Chisinau, and the third one in Balti.
"As a result of the sunstroke, there were hospitalised two persons," said Blanaru.
Interviewed by agency, head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Liliana Puscasu, specified that there have been installed nine anti – heat tents throughout Moldova since summer season beginning, to which there have addressed over 7,400 persons.
"The tents were installed in Chisinau, Cahul, Balti and Comrat. Most were located in Chisinau – 05 tents. Most often, elderly people and mothers with children need help. The anti – heat tents are placed when temperatures reach +33 to +35°C during the day," said Puscasu.
According to physicians, in order to prevent heat and sunstroke negative effects, people should avoid excessive sun exposure at 11:00 – 18:00, wear sun – hats, light natural – coloured cloths of light colours, drink at least two litres of liquid, avoid beverages with high caffeine or sugar and eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible.
Also, doctors urge the population to apply for medical help when there occur signs of sunstroke (fever, headache, dizziness, etc.).
The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has announced today the Yellow Code of heat for 14 – 16 August, predominantly in central and southern districts. During this period, maximum air temperature will be plus 33°C – 34°C.
