New defiance of regime set within security zone of Moldova

Chisinau, 14 August /MOLDPRES/ – The delegation of Moldova to Joint Control Commission (CUC) expresses its concern and perplexity on unauthorised deployment of military exercises by forcing the Dniester river, which might have generated new tensions within Security Zone (ZS), the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service has reported.

On the morning of 14 August 2018 on the left bank of the Dniester river, in the region of beach in Tarnauca village, Slobozia district and near pedestrian bridge over the Dniester of Tiraspol city, it was established concentration of armoured vehicles of type TAB ("БТР 70") and military lorries without registration plates and identification marks. According to reports, the armour engines were well heard, and there were noticed special military equipment and facilities entering the Dniester.

The Military Command of Peacekeeping Force of Moldova (FMP of Moldova) initiated measures to verify the territory in question but access to the site was forbidden by unknown, forced to call for the exit of the group of military observers, at arrival of which it was already found out the departure of armoured vehicles and lorries. There is to be noted that military patrol of GOTR is in the UN ZS, without the prior concern of the Joint Military Command (CMI).

In this context, there is to be point out that still on 13 August 2018, the official site of West Military District of Russia revealed that GOTR, deployed in the Transnistrian region of Moldova, prepared armored combat vehicles for possible crossings water barriers (https://structure.mil.ru/structure/okruga/west/news/more.htm?id=12190813@egNews). 

These actions, just like other similar precedents undertaken in ZS by Russian troops, as well as the manner in which there were communicated these actions, qualify us as provocative and defiant. These actions violate the existing mechanism of securing the regime within ZS, as well as the one of peacekeeping mission. The representatives of one of CUC's components are unable to comply with their liabilities, ignoring the basic documents of CUC.
