Moldovan filmmaker won grand prize at film festival in Romania

Chisinau, 15 August /MOLDPRES/- A documentary film ”Călărași – un ținut la poarta raiului” (Calarasi - A Land at the Gate of the Paradise) directed by Dumitru Grosei won the grand prize "The Best Ethnographic Film" at the sixth edition of the International Ethnographic Film Festival held in Zlatna, Romania, on 10-12 August 2018.
The festival is dedicated to ethnographic films and aims to promote national culture and traditions.
According to experts in the field of cinema, Dumitru Grosei is the most selected Moldovan director at international film festivals in the first half of 2018. His films have gathered new official selections in Italy, China, Morocco, Turkey, Albania, Lebanon, Romania and Russia. The first official selection of the film ”Călărași – un ținut la poarta raiului” was in the 21st edition of the International Film Festival "To save and preserve" in Russia.
He is head and founder of the Association of Independent Filmmakers Alternative Cinema. In 2016-2017 he served as director of the National Film Archive of Moldova.
