Drivers of heavy lorries violating traffic rules on heat fined

Chisinau, 15 August /MOLDPRES/ – The drivers of heavy trucks, which do not comply with traffic restrictions in period of heat, are liable to be fined up to MDL 750. Additionally, they will also receive 3 penalty points.
Interviewed by agency, press officer of the National Patrolled Inspectorate (INP), Natalia Golovco, said the restrictions are valid at 10:00 – 20:00 on days when the air temperature exceeds 30ºC.
The patrol officers check daily, in the course of their operations, if drivers comply or not with temporary restrictions on movement.
The decision to restrict circulation of means of transport with a total weight of over 20 tonnes on national roads during the peak period was taken to protect asphalt. According to the MEI's information and media communication service, exceptions will be made only for passenger cars, livestock and perishable goods involved in force majeure interventions, those equipped with first aid equipment or involved in prevention, liquidation of exceptional situations and vehicles involved in road rehabilitation.
The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) issued a Yellow Code of heat, valid until Thursday, 16 August, in central and southern regions of Moldova.
