Tudora customs post likely to become common control point

10:02 | 16.08.2018 Category: Social

Chisinau, 16 August /MOLDPRES/- Tudora customs post could become common control point, as it has the necessary infrastructure to do it. Customs Director Vitalie Vrabie made the proposal in this regard. He went yesterday to Tudora (Moldova) and Starokazacie (Ukraine) to discuss with Ukrainian counterparts the possibilities of accelerating the movement through this post.

According to the Customs Service, people and goods could be subjected to a single control filter on the territory of our country and would cross the border with Ukraine much faster.

The head noted that the establishment of a common point would be one of the most viable solutions to the issue of queues that are frequently created at the common border, especially during holidays or vacations.

According to the Intergovernmental Agreement between Moldova and Ukraine, signed in October 2017, joint control can be applied at all border crossing points. At the same time, Vrabie, until decisions have been taken, pointed out the need to use all the available technical and human resources to the maximum, so that the citizens benefit from an operative control on both sides of the border. Among the most important measures are staffing, use of all control lanes, regardless of the direction of the crossing and ensuring the functionality of the management information systems.
