New contingent of US Peace Corps volunteers takes oath in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 August /MOLDPRES/ – Over 50 US Peace Corps volunteers have taken oath today. The volunteers will teach English and healthcare education in schools of Moldova, as well as carry out activities for community and organisational development.
During the event, Peace Corps Director, Ana Todorova, said that volunteers have had the mission to support communities in villages and cities of Moldova. "It is an exciting day for 55 volunteers. Within upcoming period, you will be doing a great deal of exciting activities and have opportunity to explore country's remarkable places and culture. I am certain that during your activity you will build cultural bridges for a beautiful collaboration in perspectives," specified Todorova.
At his turn, US Ambassador to Moldova, James Pettit, remarked that volunteering would completely change lives of young people. "I am convinced you will be impressed by traditions and culture of this country. We thank the authorities and families which opened their doors for volunteers. I congratulate these wonderful young people that will change the lives of citizens here and I am glad that your experience will be shared with the new generation in Moldova", said official.
"The Peace Corps finances yearly useful programmes for youth in our country. These ones are implemented by support of US Embassy in Chisinau. We greatly appreciate the help of volunteers. We rely a lot upon enthusiasm and dedication of them. One of our priorities is studying and learning languages, and volunteers involved within programme will help us improve quality of the English language learning process. I am sure that the experience accumulated here will remain in your souls throughout your life," noted the State Secretary of Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), Angela Cutasevici.
Also, the State Secretary of Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS), Aliona Serbulenco, thanked the volunteers for their dedication and vocation with which they fulfill their mission. The peace volunteers have conducted missions in Moldova for 25 years. These ones stay for two years each in Moldova.
