Chisinau, 17 August /MOLDPRES/ – The contracts with several companies involved in rehabilitation of roads from foreign funds were terminated earlier in 2018 due to non – fulfillment of contractual conditions.
"It was decided, together with development partners, to renounce contracts where there is no possibility to execute works in due time. It is referred about 07 out of 14 contracts and 235 km of roads. So, there were renounced 50 per cent of contracts," said at a press conference today, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, Anatol Usatai.
Thus, the contract with a company in Romania, which was to repair 85 km of the Chisinau – Giurgiulesti road, was terminated. Subsequently, the works were re – auctioned and will be carried out by a Ukrainian company.
Another contract, this time with a Portuguese company, was terminated after it entered insolvency and during 2017 did not make any intervention on the R14 Balti – Sarateni road.
The R34 Hancesti – Leova – Cahul – M3 rehabilitation project financed from external sources will be updated after the contract with the company to be repaired was canceled. The same thing happened in the case of R9 Soroca – Arionesti road.
Similarly, there were stopped works on the Chisinau – Ialoveni road. However, the authorities in Chisinau managed to keep the loan provided by external partners for project financing.
In all cases, the road rehabilitation works have been or will be taken back to tender and executed by other companies.
