Meteorologists announce yellow code for exceptional fire, heat hazards in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 August /MOLDPRES/ – The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has announced today by 24 August, the Yellow Code for exceptional fire hazards, and by 21 August – the Yellow Code of heat.
According to SHS's communication and public relations department, during this period, an exceptional fire hazard (class V) of natural character and a fire threat of the forest strips and of agricultural crops will be maintained throughout Moldova.
Related to it, the rescuers and forest – keepers warn that it is possible to ignite agricultural land, forage land, forest vegetation areas, dwellings and household annexes.
These services require the public to avoid the use of open fire near dwellings, household annexes and feedstocks on land covered by dry vegetation, especially when located near forests, plantations or high risk fire targets. Similarly, it is recommended to restrict works which create favourable conditions for production of fires by volatile substances or excessive overheating.
Also, on 20 and 21 August, in the afternoon, mostly in central and southern districts, the maximum air temperature will reach +33ºC. According to SHS's data, in upcoming days, in the north and isolated in central Moldova, there are possible short – range rains with electric discharge.
