Authorities state most bridges require repair works in Chisinau

Chisinau, 20 August /MOLDPRES/ – The most bridges in Chisinau are in deplorable state and require repairs. The announcement was made today by the deputy head of the General public transport department, Vitalie Butucel, in a weekly meeting of the Chisinau City Hall.

According to Butucel, the asphalt under bridges has cracks, more cracks appeared in pillars and concrete beams, and the term of waterproofing has expired for many years.

"Currently, bridges on streets Ismail, Grigore Vieru and Mihai Viteazu require extensive expertise, which will present a report describing the technical condition of constructions, and then there will be established design and order of repair works" said Butucel.

There will be organised public tenders for rehabilitation works. Also, the head of transport noted that the bridge near bd. Dacia needs repairs.

There are 851 bridges in Moldova, with a total length of over 20 km. Out of these, almost 400 bridges are on republican roads, 375 – on regional roads and 81 on highways.
