Deadline for payment in half of fines under Criminal Code to be amended

Chisinau, 21 August /MOLDPRES/- The deadline for payment in half of fines under Criminal Code will be amended. The government approved yesterday a draft law in this respect.

The draft was submitted under the title of legislative initiative by MP Vladimir Cernat. The amendments will offer possibility for convicts for minor or less serious offenses to pay half of the fine within 3 working days when the decision becomes enforceable. Currently, the Criminal Code provides that this period is 72 hours.

The expansion reasoning of the period of payment of the fine is limited to providing the objective possibility to receive this grace period, or the period provided for payment of the fine is to be synchronized with the working hours of the institutions responsible for collecting the amount of the fine.
