Chisinau, 22 August /MOLDPRES/- The General Police Inspectorate has launched the alert map application, which gives citizens the opportunity to inform law enforcement officers of any breach of public order. IGP head Alexandru Pînzari made the statement today.
The application can be accessed at amenintari.politia.md. "Due to these alerts, the police will find out more quickly about the violations or irregularities detected by the citizens and will be able to direct forces in the indicated regions for their removal," Pînzari said.
The alert map can be accessed without prior registration. The alert process consists of a few steps and can be done from your mobile phone or computer. At the same time, the platform provides online statistics on the number and types of alerts, including by region.
“This platform is inspired by the experience of our Polish colleagues, who have told us that the app has proven to be very effective. We want citizens to be involved in crime prevention and public order. However, the application does not replace emergency calls, so in case of emergency, citizens should call 112 unique number,” he said.
Also, on this platform no different complaints can be made on offense, as the platform is anonymous.
Through the application, personal cases will not be examined, but cases based on phenomena that threaten a larger group of people. After a complaint against a certain area, the perimeter will be monitored for a period of time by a patrol crew or sector policeman.
When the complaint is made, it will indicate the place and time when the phenomenon usually occurs. Photos or video can also be added. Among the reported problems may be: drug and alcohol use in public places or hooliganism.
The application will be tested by late 2018, and citizens can come up with proposals to improve the service.
