Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/- It is important that after the parliamentary elections to form a pro-European coalition and to continue the path that Moldova has started. Prime Minister Pavel Filip made the statement in an interview with an international radio station.
The premier noted that since the declaration of independence, politicians would have tried to divide society on geopolitical criteria. "I am very sorry that politicians have used this primitive method. Thus, when going to the ballot box, the citizen was obliged to choose between the East and the West. For politicians, it is simpler to present a political choice than to talk about reforms or an economic outlook. The current government is trying to change this approach. We have a very complex reform agenda, aimed at the economic, social and justice sectors. The actions aim to lay a strong foundation for the development of Moldova,” he said.
The official pointed out that following the parliamentary elections, the party to which he belongs is ready to talk to all the politicians who share European values. "The election date has already been announced, so there is more political action going on. Yet, we must remember that after the election day, the next day comes when we need to see what we are doing. That is why politicians must show maximum responsibility in their actions. The pro-European camp should think that the most important thing is to be able to make a pro-European coalition so that we can continue the reforms and the path to the EU. If you ask me about a possible coalition, then we can think of formations that share the European path. The electoral campaign has its place, but the responsibility to the country and its future is greater," he said.
The next parliamentary elections will take place on 24 February 2019. The decision was approved by a parliament resolution.
