Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca paid a working visit to the Kingdom of Denmark on 23 August. He had meetings with Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen, Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of Danish Parliament Erik Kristensen and adviser for European affairs to the Prime Minister of Denmark Vilbeke Pasternak-Jorgensen, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The Moldovan official reiterated the country’s determination to maintain the European integration path, to continue and deepen the reforms in the economic, social and justice sectors.

“European integration is the main goal of Moldova. We are currently making considerable efforts to bring national legislation to the Community Acquis. The National Action Plan for the implementation of the Association Agreement for 2017-2019 was adjusted this year to empower all state institutions to deliver tangible and quality results. Only getting closer to the EU can guarantee prosperity and security for Moldovan citizens," he said.

The talks focused on the resumption of Danish technical assistance to Moldova, support of Moldovan efforts to withdraw the Russian troops and to resolve the Transnistrian conflict, the EU assistance in reforming the justice system, etc. At the same time, Leanca and the Danish officials exchanged views on the current situation in the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries.

The Danish officials were willing to maintain and expand the bilateral and Moldovan-EU dialogue, and to increase European political and technical support for our country. Also, they noted the positive effect of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement on economy and society of Moldova.
