Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ – It is expected an economic growth of 05 per cent in 2018. The statement was made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in an interview with an international radio station.
The official was pleased with the economic developments in recent years. "In 2016, when we came to governance, Moldova was in an economic, political and social crisis. Then we were glad to be able to pay at least salaries and pensions because all external financing was frozen. And here we are, due to a strong team, we have managed to overcome these difficulties," said Filip.
According to Premier, there was a higher economic growth of 4 per cent in 2016, 2017 – by 4.5 per cent, and it is forecast a 5 per cent increase in 2018. "These good results have allowed us to come up with economic investment. Similarly, there was an industrial growth of 8 per cent, which allowed us to create over 60 thousand jobs last year. These increases are due to the revenues to state budget, so we could initiate more social programmes, such as First Home," said Pavel Filip.
The PM also mentioned that the good results are due to the EU Association Agreement and Free Trade Agreement, as far as over 65 per cent of Moldovan exports currently reach the EU market and a third of them on Romanian market.
