Classical music concert held in premiere at sheep flock in southern locality of Moldova

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ – A concert of classical music, played by the National Youth Orchestra of Moldova, was first premiered at sheep flock in village Corten, Taraclia district.

The event is part of the La La Play musical expedition and took place by EU support under programme: The support for agriculture and rural development in Gagauzia and Taraclia district (SARD) implemented by UNDP. By means of this concert, the organisers set out to promote small entrepreneurs in rural areas.

The owner of sheep farm, Efimia Sabia, is one of the 30 entrepreneurs in Gagauzia and Taraclia, which benefited from grants and technical assistance of EU throughout the SARD programme for business launch or development. With a grant of €20,000, the family of Sabia managed to buy 61 new race sheep for Moldova.

The La La Play musical expedition takes place on 13 – 25 August and it is at its second issue. According to a press release, 16 young musicians play 12 concerts during the tour in similar number of localities in Moldova, Romania and Ukraine. Within project, there are highlighted 12 important social issues by the interpretation of classical music where it has never sounded.

Supporting local entrepreneurship initiatives is one of the three basic components of SARD programme. It also carries out activities to empower communities, renovate infrastructure objectives and promote intercommunal cooperation in Gagauzia and Taraclia. The SARD programme is funded by EU with €6.5 million, and it is implemented by UNDP.
