Exhibition dedicated to flora, fauna of Moldova varnished at museum in Chisinau

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ – An exhibition with generic: Eterna frumusete a naturii (The eternal beauty of nature) was opened today at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History (MNEIN) in Chisinau.
The event was organised on occasion of the 27th anniversary of declaration of the Independence of Moldova.
Interviewed by agency, head of the Natural sciences section of the institution, Doctor of Biology, Sergiu Pana, specified that the exhibition comprises over 200 exhibits: plant species, insects, birds and mammals from the collections of natural sciences of MNEIN, which represents the floristic and faunistic biodiversity of Moldova. The exhibition is accompanied by photos provided by the Society for the Protection of Birds and Nature (SPPN).
"An important compartment in exhibition is dedicated to geology and paleontology of Moldova, where there were presented unique pieces found on the territory of the country. The most representative exhibits created at the end of 19th – early 20th centuries, by the first custodian and trainer of the museum, Franz Ostermann (1844 – 1905). Among them, aquatic birds (various species of ducks, gulls, herons, swans, etc.), rapacious birds (hawks, vultures, Aquila pomarina and eagles), mammals, and dioramas and compositions that strike throughout their beauty and naturalness ", said Sergiu Pana.
According to cited source, a whole collection of fruits, vegetables, grapes, etc. were also exhibited there, most of them prepared by Albina Ostermann (1866 – 1936), custodian and museographer. Also, special attention in the exhibition is devoted to seed collection.
The exhibition is open until 11 November.
