PM thanks winners of National Award for making Moldovans proud of country

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ – "The National Award is the event by which we declare that we want beautiful, gifted and creative people, who know how to encourage by the power of example. Professionals, dedicated, hardworking," said today Prime Minister Pavel Filip at the Gala of National Award 2018, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.  

The Premier handed out the distinctions to ten outstanding personalities in various fields: medicine, science, literature, culture, art, agriculture, charity and security. "We are talking about people who have succeeded. About people who promote the image of the country even outside of it. The people who, through their achievements, force us to believe that it is possible. At a time when it would seem that we lack models to follow, and between values ​​and non – values the separation is not always clear, it is important to tell the young generation that we have examples and people we can relate to," said Pavel Filip.

Also, the PM stressed that the love of the country means work and dedication, expressing gratitude to people who are involved in bringing the additional value to Moldova: "I know the results do not come easy – until reaching the performance, one falls many times, then gets up and moves on. You, dear laureates, by means of each day of work, move the country forward step by step. On the eve of Independence Day, I want to thank you for making us proud of the country we live in."

At their turn, the laureates thanked for appreciation of their work, noting that the prize is an honour, but also an important incentive to continue work and record new successes.

The National Award, worth MDL 100,000, is awarded yearly to Moldovan citizens for remarkable achievements in various fields of activity. The prize winners are selected on a contest basis.
