Moldova celebrates 27 years of independence

Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/- Moldova celebrates today 27 years of independence, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The agenda of events dedicated to Independence Day has traditionally begun with laying flowers at the "Stefan cel Mare and Saint" and " Maica Îndurerată" at the Eternity Memorial Complex. Attending the event were Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, along with President of the country Igor Dodon, Prime Minister Pavel Filip, deputies, ministers, diplomats, public authorities, culture and art people, former combatants.
"This morning, I felt once again that all the flowers left are more relevant than all polls and statements”, Candu said.
The speaker expressed gratitude to the heroes who contributed to Moldova to become an independent state, fought for sovereignty, language and democracy.
The Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova was adopted by Parliament on 27 August 1991.
