Chisinau, 28 August /MOLDPRES/- The implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement and the European integration of the country are and will remain the strategic goals of the Moldovan leadership. Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi made the statement today in Budapest at a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó, MAEIE’s press service has reported.
Ulianovschi appreciated the support provided by Hungary in implementing the country's development policies, which provided new tools to support the European path of the Republic of Moldova. According to the Moldovan diplomat, since the establishment of diplomatic relations (January 16, 1992), the bilateral relations between Moldova and Hungary have achieved a harmonious development and reached an advanced level of cooperation. "We are particularly interested in continuing and deepening our bilateral European integration cooperation, taking into account the priorities set out in the 20 Deliverables for 2020 program." We believe we can deliver tangible results to the multilateral dimension of the Eastern Partnership by successfully implementing the bilateral level,” he said.
Referring to the deepening of the Moldovan-Hungarian relations, Ulianovschi reiterated the interest of the Chisinau authorities to further turn to good account the Joint Declaration of Moldova and Hungary on cooperation in the field of European integration by identifying the opportunities for cooperation and initiation of some projects. In this context, the Moldovan official expressed interest in the bilateral Forum for European Integration in Chisinau, which is a natural continuity of such an event organized for the first time in Budapest in 2012.
Péter Szijjártó emphasized willingness of the Budapest authorities to boost bilateral relations with the Republic of Moldova on all dimensions and to support the efforts of the Chisinau authorities in the European integration, implementation of reforms, etc. He noted that Hungary, taking over the presidency of the Visegrád Group (V4) in July 2017, set as a priority the support of the Eastern Partnership, including the Republic of Moldova, considering it an effective instrument for the Eastern Partnership countries to achieve their strategic objectives. In this context, Szijjártó said that our country can benefit from all the support of the Visegrád Group countries and, in particular, Hungary.
The two officials approached a wide range of issues on the relations between the two states in various sectors and welcomed the positive dynamics of the recent political and diplomatic dialogue. They exchanged views on the regional situation and the latest developments in the Transnistrian conflict settlement etc.
