Head of Moldovan diplomacy attends yearly meeting of ambassadors of Hungary

Chisinau, 29 August /MOLDPRES/ – Being a young state, which has recently celebrated 27 years of proclamation of independence, and located in a region with permanent changes in situation and risks to territorial security and integrity, Moldova is building its foreign policy based upon its national interest, in the basis of strategic partnership relations with neighbouring states, collaboration and friendship with world countries, relying on mutual respect and provisions of the UN Charter. The statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, at the yearly meeting of the ambassadors of Hungary, where he was the guest of honour of his Hungarian counterpart, Péter Szijjártó.
According to the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service, addressing Hungarian Ambassadors, Tudor Ulianovschi thanked his counterpart, Péter Szijjártó, for invitation to attend this event, emphasising that this is also an appreciation from Hungarian colleagues of performance of the Moldovan diplomatic corps within recent period of time, both in bilateral relations with partner states, as well as in various international organisations.
In this context, the head of the Moldovan diplomacy made a review of major actions taken by the Moldovan Government both internally and externally, stressing that despite all difficulties which has faced the actual Executive over recent two or three years, it succeeded in implementing a set of programs and strategies for reforming and modernising Moldova on all dimensions, restoring confidence to the development partners, IMF and other international structures.
"All this allowed us in a very short period of time to solve a large set of social problems of citizens, we have achieved a constant economic growth of over 3 per cent within several years, implemented regulatory reforms for business environment both in Moldova and abroad, turning Moldova into an attractive destination for foreign companies which come with more and more investment projects. Surely, we understand very well that this is just the beginning, but we are firmly convinced that it was set the right development direction, which letting Moldova to become a democratic state within great European family," said Tudor Ulianovschi.
During the dialogue with Hungarian diplomatic corps, the head of the Moldovan diplomacy has presented briefly the main objectives of foreign policy of Moldova in the short, medium and long term, underlining that Moldova is interested in establishing friendly relations of cooperation with all states of the world as an example being the last visit of the Foreign Minister to India, where he agreed to open diplomatic missions, sign cooperation agreements in commercial, economic, agribusiness, IT, etc. "But the European integration, implementation of provisions of Moldova – EU Association Agreement were, are and will remain the main objectives of the leadership of Moldova for immediate period, becoming an axiom of domestic and foreign policy, regardless of political developments in Chisinau. As to achieve these goals, we count upon help and support of our European partners, friends, including Hungary, which has gone throughout this exercise and can provide us with the necessary expertise," said Minister Tudor Ulianovschi.
In his speech, the head of Moldovan diplomacy also referred to social – political processes taking place in Moldova, the problem of Transnistrian conflict settlement and reunification of Moldova, relations with EU, Russia, CIS states, etc. In this context, Minister Ulianovschi answered the questions of ambassadors present at the meeting, which focused on both the Moldovan – Hungarian relations and possible evolutions of internal, regional situations, etc.
At the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, head of Moldovan diplomacy, Tudor Ulianovschi, is paying a working visit to Budapest on 28 – 29 August 2018. The agenda also includes meetings with Deputy Speaker of Hungary, István Jakab, Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary, Zsolt Semjén, as well as other officials. Within them, it will be discussed the aspects of bilateral cooperation, both political and economical ones, attracting Hungarian investments in the national economy, regional and sectoral cooperation, as well as the European integration process.
