World Congress of Eminescologists starts in Chisinau

Chisinau, 1 September /MOLDPRES/- The 7th edition of the World Congress of Eminescologists began today at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. The event will take place until 2 September.
The event is organized by the host institution and the Romanian Academy, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, the B.P.Hasdeu Romanian Philology Institute, Romanian Cultural Institute "Mihai Eminescu" in Chisinau, "Eminescu" International Academic Center, the Moldovan National Association of Creators, the Cultural League for the Unity of Romanians Abroad, the Chisinau City Hall and the Dumbrăveni Town Hall, Romania.
Academician Mihai Cimpoi, the initiator of the Congress said that the purpose of this forum is "to better know and make Eminescu more famous in the world."
The Congress is attended by eminescologists and translators from ten countries: Moldova, Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Romania, USA, Turkey and Ukraine.
For his part, writer Nicolae Dabija said that about Eminescu should talk a lot. "It is significant that this congress takes place in Chisinau. Through Eminescu, we discovered the Romanian literary language,” he said.
The head of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Gheorghe Duca, stressed that Eminescu's work must penetrate into the heart and soul of every human being, because it is both national and universal. He thanked the academician Mihai Cimpoi for organizing this congress, the day after the National Day "Our Romanian Language.”
In this context, academician Eugen Simion said that Romanian is the first symbol of our national identity.
The World Congress of Eminescologists will conclude tomorrow at the Eminescu International Academic Center, where communication sessions and book launches will take place.
The first edition of this forum took place in 2012.
