Moldovan National Army celebrates 27 years of existence

Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/- The Moldovan National Army marks 27 years of existence. The celebration began on 2 September with the Open Doors Day organized at the Ministry of Defense and will continue today with laying flowers at the monument to Stefan cel Mare.
The ceremony began with a Presidential Orchestra recital, followed by demonstration exercises conducted by the Fulger Battalion, Guard Battalion and Brigade "Stefan cel Mare". The events continued with a moto show organized by the National Army Sports Club. The National Army peacekeepers also participated in the event.
The National Army servicemen have been involved in peacekeeping missions since 1997 and have been deployed to countries such as: Chechnya, Kosovo, Macedonia, Georgia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Sudan, Central African Republic and Georgia, as well as within multinational forces in Iraq.
The National Army was set up in 1991, in accordance with the presidential decree signed by the first President, Mircea Snegur.
