35,000 children went to first grade this year

Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/- The first bell rang in Moldovan schools today. It kicked off the new school year to about 325,000 pupils across the country. 35 thousand of them went to the first grade, according to data by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.
Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc congratulated pupils and teachers on this occasion. “I am glad to know that a generation is growing in the Republic of Moldova, whose hopes are for a prosperous and happy future. I think this generation is well aware that fulfillment of expectations depends largely on their perseverance and effort,” the minister said.
After the ceremony, the pupils went to the first lesson of the new school year, which was dedicated to the work of the writer, playwright and essayist Ion Druţă.
