Moldovan writer celebrated in Chisinau

Chisinau, 03 September /MOLDPRES/ – An honourable event named: Ion Druta –The man with the most longing, dedicated to the famous writer at 90 years from birth, took place at the National Library (BNM) today.
In the square of institution, Casa Mare (The guests' room) was improvised with all its attributes: carpets, towels and embroidery, some of which were made in the middle of the 19th century. The event included the opening of a book exhibition, screenings and theatre plays.
During the event, the director of BNM spoke about the life and activity of the writer. "Ion Druta is our greatest writer. His works have educated whole generations of readers," specified Elena Pintilei. Afterwards, the librarians Tatiana Gheiceanu, Raisa Plaiesu, Valentina Granaci, Ludmila Branza and Ecaterina Onofrei presented fragments from the writer's creation, and singer Veronica Valuta – Bantas gave a musical recital.
Those present had the opportunity to watch the TV show "The Birds of Our Youth" by Ion Druta directed by Sandu Ion Scurea and show "2018 – Year of Ion Druta" performed by journalist Dumitru Turcanu at the Moldova 1 TV station in the archive of the Audiovideo archive section of BNM.
On the same day, the Union of Writers in Moldova (USM) and the National Literary Museum Dimitrie Cantemir organised a literary medal. In Hall Gheorghe Cincilei of the museum, it was presented the photodocumentary exhibition entitled: The burden of our kindness. Ion Druta at 90 years from birth.
In his speech, the President of USM, Arcadie Suceveanu, mentioned, among others, that 03 September is a landmark for our culture and literature, because on this day two important writers were born: Ion Druta and Mihai Cimpoi. "Ion Druta has greatly contributed to the awakening of national consciousness. After publishing novel: Povara bunatatii noastre (The burden of our kindness), he became a national symbol. Throughout his works we have gained more visibility in the world," said Arcadie Suceveanu.
Also today, at 19:00, Mihai Eminescu National Theatre will present performance: Casa Mare (The guests' room) by Ion Druta directed by Alexandru Cozub.
