Transgaz company can start tenders for construction of Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline

Chisinau, 4 September /MOLDPRES/ - The conditions for starting the construction of the Ungheni – Chisinau gas pipeline have been fulfilled and the Transgaz company can begin tenders for the procurement of materials. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici has made statements to this effect at a programme on the private TV channel.
„We have implemented all needed conditions. Presently, Transgaz, which has construction authorization, can start making tenders for works and materials and begin the construction of the gas pipeline,” Gaburici said.
Later this week, a delegation from Romania, led by Romanian Minister of Economy Danut Andrusca, is to come to Chisinau. During the visit, the first stage of work will be ended, which concerns the elaboration of the documents needed and the procedure of transmitting the company, which the partners of Moldova will manage in continuation. Subsequently, the procedure of construction of the gas pipeline will be launched.
The economics minister also said that, under the earlier established plan, the segment Ungheni – Chisinau would be functional till late 2019.
The contract on privatization of the state enterprise Vestmoldtransgaz by the Romanian company Transgaz was signed on 28 March 2018, after the Moldovan limited company Eurotransgaz and the Romanian joint stock company Transgaz, as single associate, had been announced winner of the tender on privatization of Vestmoldtransgaz. Following the tender, the ltd company Eurotransgaz took the commitment to construct the Ungheni- Chisinau gas pipeline in a two-year period and to invest up to 93 million euros to this end.
