Chisinau, 4 September /MOLDPRES/ - The main financial and prudential indicators were recording values on the rise in late last July, both in the banking sector, in general, and in most cases, at the level of individual banks, the Expert-Grup Independent Analytical Centre has reported. The centre’s experts today made public a ranking of the banking performance.
Even if the new requirements of calculation of the level of capital and the credit exposures have entered into force, the indicator of the sufficiency of the risk-weighted assets remains at a proper level, of about 27 per cent for the entire banking system, with oscillations at the individual level, ranking between 19.6 and 63 per cent. The banks’ liquidity remains much over the limits regulated, as well as the ones recommended by the banking practice, which confirms the slow improvement of the duty of banking intermediation and the appearance of opportunity costs at the level of banks, the analysis by Expert-Grup shows. The banks’ profit amounted to 1.1 billion lei in late last July.
Experts found out a 219-million-lei increase in the total stock of credits in July 2018, up to 33.4 billion lei. Loans provided to the food industry had the biggest contribution to this advancement, - up by 139 million lei and the consumption loans, which rose by 111 million lei. On the other hand, loans provided to commerce record the biggest cut; those credits decreased by 105 million lei and the ones characteristic to the energy sector dropped by 12 million lei.
At the same time, the stock of credits provided to private persons for the procurement/construction of real estate registered an increase of about 88 million lei in last July against the month before, bringing the interest for the First Home programme to the forefront.
According to Expert-Grup, the indicators specific to the quality of the portfolio of loans continues to improve and the degree of covering with commissions remains adequate. Thus, in late last July, the volume of bad credits had a share of about 14.4 per cent, oscillating between 5 and 35 per cent, depending on the bank.
The bank performance ranking in the end of July 2018 is led by three banks, described of systemic importance for the national banking and financial sector: Moldova-Agroindbank, Mobiasbanca and Moldindconbank. These banks excel preponderantly in terms of profitability and market indicators; Moldova-Agroindbank, Mobiasbanca and Moldindconbank have about 80 per cent of the profit gained in the banking sector and 68 per cent of all the bank assets.
