PM demands developing tourism potential of Moldova

Chisinau, 4 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today chaired a working meeting on last preparations for the third Global Conference on Wine Tourism, due on 6-7 September 2018, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Pavel Filip stressed that it was important to fully use the opportunities provided by this prestigious international event, in order to promote the domestic tourism, in general, and the wine tourism, in particular. “Regretfully, nobody has developed the domestic tourism, which can bring money to the state’s treasury. Everybody has focused more on international tourism. While the potential on this dimension is quite big and must be turned to good account,” the prime minister emphasized.
The event’s organizer – the Investments Agency – informed about the last details concerning the preparations for the Global Conference. More than 300 participants from about 60 countries from all continents have announced their participation in this event. At the same time, 30 foreign journalists from Romania, Italy, Poland and China will inform about the conference.
The participants will have possibility to visit four famous wineries from Moldova: Cricova, Milestii Mici, Castelul Mimi (Mimi Castle) and Asconi, as well as to discuss with wine producers at the Vatra and cultural compound. The guests will also participate in guided tours and wine tastings, gastronomic and cultural shows, as well as in craftsmanship exhibitions. Thus, the event will help promote Moldova as global wine tourist destination.
Moldova will convey the Wine Amphora to the Republic of Chile for the organization of the next Global Conference on Wine Tourism. The first two issues of the conference took place in Georgia and Argentina.
