Artists from ten countries to participate in Maria Biesu International Opera and Ballet Festival in Moldova

Chisinau, 04 September /MOLDPRES/ – The artists from Bulgaria, China, Egypt, Italy, Peru, Romania, Russia, Spain, Ukraine and Moldova will take part in the of the International Opera and Ballet Festival Maria Biesu, XXVIth issue, which will take place on 07 – 16 September, under the aegis of Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, in the National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Chisinau.
Among them are: Ventseslav Anastasov and Tsveta Sarambelieva, soloists of Sofia Opera House, Bulgaria, Hanying Tso in Taiwan, singer of Romanian Opera in Iasi, Victor Tomashek and Alexandra Vorobiova from Odessa Opera Theatre, Ragaa de la Opera din Cairo, tenor Juan Diego Florez from Peru, Vladyslav Lysak (Ukraine), Veronica Tello (Spain), conductors Tiberiu Soare (Romania), Oleksiy Baklan and Alexandru Samoila (Ukraine), Andriy Yurkevych, Nicolae Dohotaru and Dumitru Carciumaru (Moldova).
At a press conference today, the Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc, mentioned that the International Opera and Ballet Festival Maria Biesu has become one of the main symbols of the Moldovan culture, and Chisinau – a capital of lyrical art which brings together, this year, on the same stage, the best native artists, as well as world – class artists.
According to official, the Festival's programme includes eight high artistic performances – four operas, three ballets and a gala concert. It will open on 07 September with Macbeth by Giuseppe Verdi, starring Ventseslav Anastasov from Bulgaria (Macbeth) and Taiwan's Hanying Tso (Lady Macbeth). On 08 September, it will be presented ballet Romeo and Juliet by Serghei Prokofiev, and on 09September – ballet The Swan Lake by P. I. Tchaikovsky. On 12 September, spectators will be able to watch Carmen by Georges Bizet, on 14 September – Marriage Secrets by Domenico Cimarosa, and on 15 September, ballet Spartacus by Aram Haciaturean.
Minister Monica Babuc urged the public to participate in the Festival's "real musical and choreographic performances". It will culminate with a gala performance, with famous names of the international lyrical scene: Juan Diego Florez from Peru, Moldovan soprano Valentina Nafornita (Vienna, Austria), Andrei Jilihovschi from Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Mihail Dogotaru, Igor Turcanu etc.
The 20th issue of the International Opera and Ballet Festival Maria Biesu is organised by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research and the National Opera and Ballet Theatre, under the aegis of Prime Minister, Pavel Filip.
