Chisinau, 5 September /MOLDPRES/- The chances of employment in the urban environment of a younger person with higher education are four times higher than the one without any studies, economist Veaceslav Ionita says in an analysis on his blog. He refers to the recent communiqué of the National Statistics Bureau "Labor force in Moldova: employment and unemployment in the second quarter of 2018".
Thus, in the urban area, among young people aged between 25 and 34, who represent the category of those who have now entered the workforce, over 53 percent of them have higher education, according to official statistics. The expert points out that "only 30% of young people decide to go to college. So 30% of young people with higher education occupy 54% of vacancies, which means that their employability is 2 times higher than those without higher education.”
Under BNS, 27 per cent of young people in the 25-34 age group have special or vocational education. As a result, half of young people in Moldova in this age group, who have only gymnasium or lyceum education, account for less than 20 percent of the available jobs in the urban area. "These young people have the lowest chances of getting into the urban environment. As mentioned above, their employability is 4 times lower than those with higher education," Ionita said.
Statistics also show that employment rate of population aged 15 and over increased to 45.0 percent in the second quarter of this year, compared to 42.6 per cent in the same period of the previous year. At the same time, the unemployment rate at the country level fell to 3.0 percent against 3.5 percent in the second quarter of 2017, while the youth unemployment rate (15-24 years) fell to 7.8 per cent compared to 10.1 per cent in the same period of the previous year.
