Judicial experts of Moldova to have deontological code

Chisinau, 5 September /MOLDPRES/ - The government, at a today’s meeting, approved a deontological code of the judicial expert, which establishes the integrity standards and principles of ethics and conduct, due to be observed by judicial experts in their work.    

At present, most judicial expertise public institutions have approved deontological codes for experts working at the concerned institutions; yet, these codes are not relevant for judicial experts from the judicial expertise offices. The single code of judicial expertise regulates the deontological framework applicable to all judicial experts.

The draft of the deontological code of the judicial expert sets the fundamental principles, compulsory norms of professional conduct and discipline in carrying out the work of judicial expert. The draft provides for ensuring the providing of quality services, based on deontological norms and organizational integrity, the judicial expert being aware of the responsibility in the process of fulfilling the duties and the need to observe discipline in the activity he/she carries out.    

The code will represent a useful instrument for the decision-makers of the judicial expertises, as well as the society, who will know the deontological rules, according to which a judicial expert is to work, giving them possibility to claim a correct behavior on behalf of the judicial expert.  

The Justice Ministry said that the adoption of the code represented an important stage of the process of professionalization of the judicial expert, of developing an organizational culture, changing the attitudes towards the position/profession, the sides involved and the community, in general, towards the corruption phenomenon and other phenomena, which would be to the prejudice of the prestige of the profession.
